Off and Racing: research data for you and your library

On the 4th, February 2016 over 45 NSW ALIA members and guest Librarians gathered at the amazing Arup meeting room in Kent Street to begin the journey towards incorporating research data into the librarian toolkit of services and expertise.

This session will go broader and deeper into opportunities for Librarians around research data.

The session is suitable for those who are completely new to the idea of research data in their Libraries as well as those who attended the February Sydney session.

Research data is not just for academic or research libraries - it is for every library: State, University, Corporate, Government, Law, Medical, Public and School.  There will be time for questions and the sharing of ideas.

In this session we will scan some research data basics; look at some simple ideas (like the Data Management Lifecycle) as keys to implementing effective support services for clients; explore some answers and strategies for this question: “If data is the next big thing for Libraries, how can I get the skills and confidence I need to be as comfortable with data as I am with other research material” And we will check out the personal side of citizen science opportunities.
